Kelsey Thelen, MSW, LISW, SSW

Known for her ability to build strong relationships, Kelsey Thelen empowers clients by meeting them where they are and equipping them with essential strategies for success. Kelsey is deeply committed to empowering young people by providing them with the tools they need to thrive academically and in their communities.

Kelsey currently works as a school social worker at a local school district in Central Ohio. She has 6 years of experience providing counseling and therapeutic support to children and families.

With a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University, specializing in serving children and youth within the school setting, Kelsey is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). Kelsey holds professional licenses with the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Education.

Kelsey specializes in working with children and families who support them. Kelsey believes in a holistic, collaborative approach with families, health providers, and school teams.

Kelsey enjoys utilizing brain-based therapies such as EMDR, neurofeedback, DBT, and CBT in tandem with other modalities such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and using a Strengths-Based Approach. Kelsey also has experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation, safety planning and follow-up support. Kelsey has a passion for teaching and assisting youth to develop positive coping strategies, as well as developing executive functioning skills.
